A lifelong dream ... the 2015 three-year retreat

ABOUT ME
My name is Juila King Tamang. I started practicing TIbetan Buddhism in 1994, at Kagyu Changchub Chuling, a center for the practice and study of Tibetan Buddhism, in Portland, Oregon. The center was founded in 1976 by the meditation master, Kalu Rinpoche.
In spring of 2015, KCC will host a 3-year traditional, cloistered Shangpa Kagyu mediation retreat, led by the center's Resident Teacher, Lama Michael Conklin. It is an advanced pratice opportunity with world-class training and I have deep aspiration to participate.
I have been a part of the KCC community for 19 years, and authorized to teach there for more than 7. I lead Sunday services, meditation retreats and seminars, and counsel families and individual practitioners. For more than a decade I was KCC's lead children's teacher. I wrote a year-long curriculum still in use today at KCC and other dharma centers. I served on KCC's board of directors for two terms, the second as President for the Center's Board of Directors.
I have been active in helping raise over $3,000,000 US to build our retreat center (debt free) and now it is time to use it.
The 2015 retreat costs $47,000 US dollars. While it is a lot of money, it is less than most people will spend for room, food and simiple self-care over 3 years outside the retreat--and it includes about the same hours of instruction as an advanced college degree.
During the retreat, we will maintain a daily schedule from 3 AM to 9 PM, seven days a week for all 3 years. I will sit more than 12,000 hours of mediation; and will not leave the meditation cloister for the duration.
On this website, I have tried to give the information you might need to consider helping me, but if you'd like to talk in person or by email, please use the contact form . I thank you for any support, including your encouragement and prayers. Please share this website with friends and family. I join men, women and children of all spiritual traiditions in a wish to serve the world in the most efficacious way possible. I believe, for me, for now, this is the way.
